Eliminate Slo-mo Flicker with Just One Click! - DaVinci Resolve Tutorial Category: Short Burst Value

What’s going on Qazman Fam! Hope you are having a great start to your New Year. Today we are talking about how to eliminate slo-mo flicker with one click! Now this shot is going to look familiar because we did a tutorial on noise reduction with this clip.

The biggest culprit today that we are attacking is the flicker in the white lights (unfortunately to see this you will need to watch the video).

Now flicker is usually caused when there is a misalignment between the frequency of electricity to frames per second. So this was shot in 60fps and the lights were probably old, so they are causing the flicker.

There is this awesome OFX plug-in built into Resolve called Deflicker.

We are going to drop it on one of our nodes. Now you can see (again, you need to be watching the video for this) that there is ghosting in her hands when you drop it on.

So let's go through the parameters. By default it’s set to timelapse, which obviously works for timelapses. But when you click the dropdown, you get multiple options.

For our sake, we are going to be using the flouro light one.

Now when I do a before and after you can see that it’s gone. So this is a one-click fix for those who need this flicker gone!

Now if you bookmark this to come back, it’s definitely helpful. You may not need it a lot, but our deadlines are always so tight that instead of scouring the internet, it’s already bookmarked. With that, work hard, get obsessed, and get possessed.
